About Us

We are a dealership with a focus on two things: keeping our expenses low so that we can sell cars for less than the competition and still put food on the table, and customer satisfaction so that you keep coming back and tell your friends and family about us!

Our owner, Eric Nelson, has been in business for 10+ years and is committed to complete satisfaction and making lifelong customers and friends with each transaction. We were awarded the 2015 Illinois Quality Dealer of the year by the IIADA which recognizes our commitment to customer service and community involvement.

Nelson Automotive has also been awarded a Better Business Bureau accreditation and is A+ Rated. This exemplifies our total commitment to customer satisfaction.

We may be located in Mount Prospect, Illinois but we have sold cars to people all over the country. So please don’t hesitate to contact us no matter where you live.

We are the only store around that puts our owner’s cell number online. If you have any concerns or are at all unsatisfied with a transaction at Nelson Automotive, please call our owner Eric’s cell at (989) 878-1616

Eric Nelson

I like to say that I have been in the car business since I was 16 and I bought my first car (against my parent’s wishes, and without their knowledge). And even though I lost money on that first one (I had to sell it quick when my parents found out!) I loved the idea of buying and selling cars. I started with just one car and kept working to turn that one car into what the dealership is today. I am an ardent believer in running a car dealership like a business, and not like a typical dealership! I am committed to customer satisfaction and to prove that I put my personal cell phone online so that a customer can always get ahold of me if they have an issue. (It is 989-878-1616) I have always enjoyed this business, and plan on enjoying it for many years to come.

Matt Vogelzang

I have been with Nelson Automotive since the spring of 2009 shortly after graduating from Northwood University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management with a focus on Dealership Management. It has been exciting to have the opportunity to be a part of this rapidly expanding business over the last 8 years! We have grown from a 3 man operation with an inventory of only 15 vehicles to a much larger dealership that now offers not just sales, but a full service department as well. What I enjoy most about working for Nelson Automotive is getting to meet so many different people, helping them find the perfect vehicle, and building relationships along the way. I am committed to Customer Satisfaction, one of the core values at Nelson Automotive. Outside of work I enjoy seeing friends, hanging out with my wife, my two boys, and our dog Quinn, working on small projects around the house, and during the summer taking weekend trips with my family to the beaches of Lake Michigan.

I have been working at Nelson Automotive since the end of 2014, exactly 4 years after I bought a car from Eric and Matt. Over the time I have spent working at Nelson Automotive, I've had the opportunity to meet a great and diverse amount of people, which makes this job very interesting. In my free time I enjoy taking trips to museums, concerts, festivals and books stores, as well as, watching sports(Go BULLS) and learning new things.
